Win two free books on Christ Centred Mindfulness
In the award-winning ‘Christ Centred Mindfulness’, leading academic and experienced mental health worker Dr Katherine Thompson draws on the rich Christian tradition to present Christian mindfulness exercises that help us slow down, connect to what is happening inside ourselves and make space to listen for God’s guidance in everyday life.
In these follow-ups, she provides exercises to help us to stop, be still and breathe.
Many of our attempts to be still are foiled by the internal world of our emotions. We tend to push difficult emotions aside, ignore them or distract ourselves from them. These exercises are designed to help us stop and notice our emotions, how they feel in our body, and how they affect us.
Another essential task is learning how to stop and breathe. In the quietness that follows, our spirit is able to hear what God’s Spirit is saying to us. Our breath is open to perceiving God’s breath. These exercises are designed to help you to take time out of your busy life – to stop, breathe and listen to God.
“Katherine Thompson’s call for Christ centred mindfulness leads us to the place of contemplation where we can find ourselves and God,” says Tim Costello AO.
