This week in Christian music…
Blackstump: The four-day Blackstump festival was held last weekend at Appin, south of Sydney. Over the years, the Blackstump festival has come full circle, and has recently been regarded as one of the most diverse and creative small festivals on the Australian Christian music and arts calendar. Music historian and broadcaster Martin Fawkes reports back on the festival to Cam Want (listen below).
Parachute Festival: Next January 25-27th the Parachute Music Festival will be on again in Hamilton, New Zealand. It’s the Southern Hemisphere’s largest Christian music festival. Run by Parachute Music, the festival lasts three days and nights attracting a large Aussie contingent of fans and performers. Parachute’s CEO Mark De Jong says next year’s lineup is probably their “best ever”, with San Diego’s Grammy Award-winning rockers Switchfoot making their anticipated return, along with Christian rock legends Newsboys.
