Hillsong Worship tops ARIA music charts with new album Open Heaven/River Wild | October 26th, 2015 11:50 AM
Move over Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Macklemore and One Direction, Hillsong Worship has just hit number one on the ARIA Music Charts.
The album, Open Heaven / River Wild, was released on October 16, and when the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) released their list of the top albums this week, it took the number one spot. This is the second time this year that a Hillsong album has topped the list. In June, the Hillsong United album Empires reached number one.
Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church Brian Houston said in a statement, “it is easy to think that Australia is becoming less Christian, but I don’t believe that.
“I believe that despite attempts from people with agendas to almost remove Christian faith from public thinking, the human heart was created to worship God.
“It is a wonderful and humbling honour for ‘Open Heaven / River Wild’ to be the number one album on the ARIA chart, but what is even more exciting to us is the thought that so many Australians consider faith in Christ so valuable to their lives,” he said.
