Eternity is pleased to support this appeal by Australian Christian Lobby’s Martyn Iles for prayer and financial support for a young victim of the same crash that killed the three Abdallah children and Veronique Sakr.
Please join with me in praying for Charbel Kassas, 11, who was injured in the terrible Oatlands car crash.
Paramedics were forced to intubate him at the scene before rushing him to hospital under police escort. He is still in a coma at Westmead Children’s Hospital with significant injuries to his spine and brain.
Sadly, Charbel’s cousins Antony, 13, Angelina, 12, Sienna Abdallah, 9, were killed in the crash, along with Veronique Sakr, 10. Two other children apart from Charbel were injured but are now recovering.
Charbel’s parents, Assaad and Rania have been in Australia for only a short time and have no access to Medicare. All medical expenses are out of pocket and will increase dramatically. Charbel may require full time, ongoing care.
Although the Kassas Family have not directly asked for financial assistance at this stage (only prayers), their neighbour and close friend, Rimonda Abi Zeid, has launched a GoFund me page to raise money for Charbel’s medical costs.
The family are overwhelmed at the community support they are receiving.
Let us unite as members of the Christian community to pray for this family and for Charbel’s recovery.
Further, if you are able, I can verify that the GoFundMe page is real. Rimonda is hoping to raise $150,000. Charbel has a long road ahead.
