Free copies of a book designed to bring comfort and hope to grieving parents are on offer from Bible Society Australia (BSA).
My Tears in Your Bottle: Psalms and Reflections of Hope for Grieving Parents features stories of six families who have experienced trauma in pregnancy and childbirth, or have suffered the loss of a young child.
“I remember pacing the living room floor crying, ‘God, my God, why have you forsaken me?'” – Jane
“I was 29 weeks pregnant when the car accident happened. Had it not, I’m convinced I would have had a healthy little girl. To lose her was devastating,” writes Jane, as she tells her story about losing baby Freya.
“It was hard to describe the grief. It still is. I remember pacing the living room floor crying, ‘God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’ I no longer understood God. I would have done anything to save my first born. He let her die.”
Bible Society Australia is giving away copies of My Tears in Your Bottle to mark Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month this October, and Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day on October 15.
For any ministry worker who supports bereaved families, ten free copies of the book are available – while stock lasts. A total of 1500 copies will be given away.
Copies of the book are also available to anyone at half price from Koorong during October.
While honestly expressing the depths of her grief in My Tears in Your Bottle, Jane – along with other parents in the book – also shares how the love of God has sustained her.
The hope is these personal stories will bring hope and healing to others in similar situations.
“I’ve been asked how I got over it, but to be truthful, I didn’t,” writes Jane. “It’s like having a wound that has scabbed over – if you scratch the surface, it’s not far underneath. From time to time, I find myself looking at Freya’s trinkets – an image of her footprints, her mittens or beanie or a book she will never open.
“Still, my faith stands firm, my hope and love of God unrelenting. Although it’s perhaps not easy to explain, it is unshakeable.”
Those in ministry can access ten free copies of My Tears in Your Bottle to give to bereaved parents from the Leaders Connect section of the Bible Society Australia website.
