Ranking in the top 10 in U.S. box office sales for 2023, the crowd-funded film has shockingly outperformed big-budget staples like Mission: Impossible and Indiana Jones. With a rare 100 per cent audience score on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, Sound of Freedom continues a recent trend of beloved box-office surprises like Jesus Revolution and The Chosen.

While the movie has generated significant criticism, statistics like its perfect audience score testify to exceptional film quality and compelling storytelling.

Based on the story of Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard (played by Jim Caveziel), the tone of the film is much closer to the gravity of Oppenheimer than the levity of Barbie, but with more hope and heroism than either.

When Ballard discovers a child sex-trafficking ring, he makes great sacrifices in his effort to take down these evil networks.

God seems to have big plans for the industry of faith-based films.
