Faith Stories with Naomi Reed | July 13th, 2020 01:48 PM
“I’m getting older. I’m nearly 50 now, so I’m thinking that I might only have ten years of active ministry to go. Of course, I might have more than that, but I can’t be sure. I could get sick. Already, I’m not as strong as I used to be. My hearing and vision is going.”
“So I’m thinking … what should I do in the next ten years? What is the best way for me to spend the next ten years, to share the gospel passionately?
“For the last 27 years, I’ve been doing office management, for Christian non-government organisations. At the moment, my organisation helps churches in Nepal to engage with their local communities. It’s a great ministry, but my role is mostly in the office. And I would love to go to the villages! I would love to spend time with smaller churches, teaching them to teach the Bible well, and showing them the available resources.
“I would love to serve alongside my wife. I would also love to go to Jajarkot [region of Nepal], where there are currently no resources. I have so many ideas. But I need to keep reading John 1:12. “To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” It encourages me.
“I’m a child of God. It is a very great privilege! It is a wonderful thing to think about. And I will keep being a child of God, over the next ten years, whatever else happens, or whatever else I might be able to do, or not do …”
