Staff Support Team Leader

As a result of the ongoing growth of AFES, we have developed a newly created role to build the staff support capability – Staff Support Team Leader – based in Kingsford.  This role is integral in building people systems, processes and policies that enable organisational growth while working collaboratively with the national office team and campus team leaders and staff. 

The vision of AFES (Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students) is to prayerfully proclaim Jesus Christ at university to present everyone mature in him, reaching students at 55+ campuses in every state and territory of Australia. AFES employs staff and trains apprentices to serve Christ and support students in their Christian growth and witness.

Working in partnership with campus ministry staff to serve the on campus staff and students, it is essential that applicants have a personal commitment to and alignment with the mission, vision, values and doctrinal basis of AFES.  

The role has oversite of all aspects of the employee life cycle, oversees the payroll function, coach leaders in staff discipline matters and develops staff policies (including safe ministry practices).  In addition to these responsibilities, this role will lead and collaborate on various projects designed to build organisational capability, such as the implementation of a new HRIS.  

The successful candidate would have experience leading a small team of human resources professionals, HR policy implementation, HRIS systems, managing change, disciplining staff and would be a trusted advisor to managers.  A can-do attitude, a strong service orientation and problem solving approach are a must.   

In addition, candidates with relevant degreeexperience in using ELMO, experience in a Christian organisation and history of relationship with an AFES group would be considered highly desirable (but not essential).   

Candidates need to be permanent residents and able to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People Check (or relevant State Equivalent).  

The role is full-time however part-time options will be considered for suitable candidates.  A 3 year contract will be offered the successful candidate.
